The question of how to celebrate Simchas Torah with full joy while also recognizing the first Yahrtzeit of the Kedoshim who were mercilessly taken from us one year ago has been a deep and collective struggle.
Numerous Shluchim approached artist Yitzchok Moully and Laizer Mangel from KippahsPlus seeking a meaningful way to honor their memory. Together, they developed two significant ideas: a Sefer Torah Mantle and a Bima Cover.
The Bima Cover, created by KippahsPlus, is inscribed with the names of every victim of the October 7th tragedy. The Sefer Torah Mantle that Moully designed depicts two figures dancing together with the neshamos of the Kedoshim rising upward. Both are beautiful tributes, honoring the souls of the Kedoshim through the joyous celebration of Simchas Torah.
Laizer from KippahsPlus shared “designing these pieces and managing the technical aspects was certainly a challenge. However, the overwhelming response since the launch on Motzei Shabbos, with orders and interest pouring in from Chabad Houses and Shuls, underscores the importance of this project. Shluchim have shared how their Baalei Batim are eager to donate for this deeply meaningful Bima Cover. We extend our gratitude to the Rabbonim who dedicated much time to consult on every detail of the project, leading to this incredible outcome.”
Moully said, “It is humbling to witness the power of art in conveying such profound and weighty ideas. The response to the Mantle has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how deeply it resonates with the pain and hope that Simchas Torah now embodies.”
May the Neshamos of those who were killed on Simchas Torah last year have the ultimate Aliyah.

So important, meaningful and appreciated. So many are trying to find a meaningful way to honor the Yahrtzeit, and this is really something that every Community can appreciate.
Thank you very much to both Laizer and Yitzchok for doing this.
The Memorial Bima Cover team thanks Avremi Hershkop Design for all of his time, efforts, and fabulous artistic skills, in the design of the Bima Cover, and we thank Yaakov from Raskin Rendering for his amazing talent in creating the renderings for this project.
Absolutely beautiful and meaningful project. Kol Hakavod Laizer!
“Simchat Torah Kdoshim” could also refer to massacre on Simchas Torah in Poland, so memorable that we do 3.5 hakofos on the Simchas Torah day.
Thanks for posting, Bima Cover ordered!
