Election Day in the 2022 midterm elections is underway in New York City, with voters casting ballots for governor and other key races at more than 14,000 polling places across the Five Boroughs.
The polls opened at 6 a.m., and turnout has varied from light to brisk in some locations. More than 400,000 New York City residents had cast their ballots in the nine-day early voting period that concluded on Sunday, Nov. 6, and hundreds of thousands of other voters opted to cast mailed absentee ballots.
Topping the Election Day contests is the heated governor’s race between Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul and Republican Congress Member Lee Zeldin.
Two other statewide officials are also on the ballot:
Democratic Attorney General Letitia James is seeking another four-year term in office against Republican Michael Henry.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is looking to fend off a challenge from Republican Paul Rodriguez.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is also seeking his fifth term in the Senate. The Democratic stalwart is being challenged by Republican Joe Pinion.
In the 9th Congressional District, the Brooklyn district that encompasses Crown Heights, Brownsville and Midwood, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke is seeking a 9th term, facing off against Republican Menachem Raitport.
Rabbi Yosef Braun, member of the Crown Heights Beis Din, called on Crown Heights residents to “vote in the masses” noting that voting should be done “even if a candidate isn’t fully compatible with Torah views.”
Crown Heights United PAC has endorsed Zeldin for Governor of New York.
A group of Crown Heights activists have called for Crown Heights residents to vote Republican ‘Down the Ballot’ and “endorse the candidates whose values most align with our community’s.”
Activist Rabbi Shea Hecht has endorsed Menachem Raitport.
A group of Crown Heights activists endorsed Senator Schumer, noting his support of the Orthodox Jewish community and Israel.

They sent me to the right line, I was in and out in 10 minutes, and they were incredibly kind. I didn’t see anyone getting to the wrong line. They even bumped an zeide who was having a hard time walking to the front of the line so he didn’t have to stand for a while
