Although the talmidim of yeshivas Lubavitch Toronto were forced to go home early before Pesach, like the talmidim in other yeshivos, the seder never stopped.
Almost immediately, remote shiurim were organized, so that the bochurim were able to enjoy shiurim by phone or zoom on a daily basis.
Besides hearing shiurim every day while at home in both nigleh and chassidus, they also continued to have farbrengens with their mashpiim on all special occasions. In fact, in the spirit of “kalkolosoi takonosoi”, the shiurim continued past the time when they normally would break for bein hazemanim, with shiurim taking place right up until Yom Tov, and even on the days of chol Hamoied.
On Friday, Isru Chag, the bochurim even organized their own virtual Kinus Torah, with divrei Torah being shared by both staff and talmidim.
All of this was thanks to both the dedication of the staff and the commitment of the bochurim. A number of parents expressed their appreciation to the Yeshiva for rising to the occasion, with one parent writing about her son:
“…It’s such nachas to watch him sitting and learning on the phone or online with his chavrusahs, spending his time arranging the shiur, and participating in online shiurim and Farbrengens. We greatly appreciate the countless hours that you have given until now and especially now over these past couple of weeks. Being home without the seder and structure of Yeshiva could be very challenging. With your assistance, inspiration, and guidance you have really helped us and … to make our house a true branch of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim. Thank you for all you are doing for him that keeps him so excited and motivated to learn and act like a Chossid…”
“It is amazing to see how the bochurim are taking the initiative on their own time to arrange all of this daily learning, you see how their experience in Yeshiva really became a part of them,” said Rabbi Akiva Wagner, Rosh Yeshiva.
“We thank our hanhala profusely for being so committed and acknowledge and recognize the Talmidim for their immense involvement!” Rabbi Wagner said.
“We hope the Eibishter will see the efforts being made to continue learning Torah despite all odds, and will remove all of the hardships and challenges from klal yisroel immediately,” he said.

Bachurim in shiur gimmel don’t hesitate sign up now. Rabbi wagner is an incredible person/rosh hayeshiva and chaim simpson is a truly amazing menahel.
Looking back, my years in Toronto was the time I gained a chassidish feeling, the value of learning niglah and chassidus and the need to connect with the Rebbe daily. I now try to give this over to my family and I don’t know if I would hve been able to do so without those precious formative years that molded me to strive higher and demand more of myself. Thank you Yeshiva Lubavitch Toronto!
The man to thank is my menahel, mashgiach chaim Simpson. The man is literally keeping that yeshiva running, from the beginning of the year, and especially now. This year has been the best year in years for Toronto zal, thanks to him. Rock on man
Go shloime gereber!!!
Thank you for making sure it happens
Please say tehilim for the Rosh yeshivah a legend of a man Akiva Gershin ben rochel basyah
Having spent some of my zal years, as well as my shlichus, in the 4 walls of Yeshivas Lubavitch Toronto; I would recommend any bochur who is (or wants to be)serious about his learning nigla and chasidus, his avodas hatefila, avoda Im atzmo and with others, should immediately sign himself up for an amazing yeshiva experience, chock full of farbrengens, hashpoa pnimis and individual attention, without the distractions of havlei olam hazeh.
