A Hachnosas Sefer Torah took place on Sunday, 22 Teves, January 15, in Creteil, France in memory of the beloved Lubavitcher Doctor Yitzchak Bokobza obm.
His passing had had a strong impact on the community; it was during the difficult period of COVID that the community learned the terrible news of the untimely sudden passing of doctor Bokobza, on 10 Nissan 5780, who had been in good health until that time.
Due to lockdowns, even his own family was not allowed to attend the burial in Israel, except through Zoom.
The entire Creteil, France community gathered to welcome a new Sefer Torah in memory of the doctor who was beloved by all.
Doctor Bokobza was a beloved longtime doctor who impacted many people, local residents noted. He was devoted to his patients at all hours of the day and night, and was constantly concerned for their well being, caring for both adults and children with professionalism and a smile.
The joy and emotion were felt by all at the event. By hashgocha protis, the completion of the Torah was during the week of Parshas Vaeira, which is the same gematria- numerical value of the world Yitzchak (208).
The event began with the completion of the final letters in the Shul in Cretail, where Dr. Bokobza’s father devoted much of his time and energy.
Rabbanim of the different cities, community representatives of the various Shuls of Creteil, Rosh Kolel Rabbi Zerbib, and the president of the community of Creteil were present for the occasion.
The writing was followed by a procession to the local Chabad Center which Doctor Bokobza was part of, parading both by car and on foot, where the Torah was welcomed.
This was followed by Hakafos and a Farbengen.
