Talmidim of Tomchei Temimim on Ocean Parkway had the unique opportunity of seeing first hand what is involved in baking matzah in under eighteen minutes, thereby preventing it from becoming Chometz.
This activity came only after serious learning concerning the halochos of chometz and many other topics of Pesach.
A video explaining the process started off the activity and was followed by the directions of what to do by Rabbi Turk, Program Director at ULYOP.
The Talmidim followed the instructions closely, meticulously measuring, pouring and mixing the flour and water. The dough was then distributed to all the students to flatten and bake all in under eighteen minutes.
“It is such an integral part of pesach that each talmid fully understands the ‘what’s’ and ‘why’s’ of Pesach, and it is best done when a child experiences it for themself after studying the many halochos for quite some time,” remarked a teacher.
