The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in New York City on Friday until 5:45 PM.
60mph winds and penny-sized hail are expected. Strong winds can cause flying debris, turn unsecured objects into projectiles, and cause power outages.
They advise to exercise caution when walking, biking, or driving.
The warning has been issued for the Hudson, Eastern Union, Southeastern Bergen, Southeastern Essex, Richmond, Bronx, Kings and Manhattan counties.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Flood Advisory in New York City until 6:45 PM on Friday.
Heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots, they said.
The advise not to drive your vehicle or walk into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be too great to allow you to cross safely.
