On Monday morning, 100,000 people began streaming to the Kotel – Western Wall from the early morning, including hundreds of Kohanim who came to take part in the annual Birkas Kohanim ceremony on Pesach.
The Blessing of the Kohanim was said in the presence of the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Rishon Lezion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, Rabbi David Lau and the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Places Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the US Ambassador to Israel Mr. David Friedman, minister Uri Ariel, Police Commissioner Moti Cohen, and the Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Moshe Leon.
After the service, the “reception of the rabbi” took place in which the Chief Rabbis and the Western Wall Rabbi greeted the public.
This year, the rabbi of the Western Wall and the holy places, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, also delivered a prayer of thanks for the many rains Israel received this year: “After we finished asking for the rains and we began to take the dew on the first day of Passover, About the abundance and rain that we were given. ”
