A massive gathering was held in Boro Park, Brooklyn Monday evening to show support for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin who will be formally sentenced today.
Thousands attended to show their support at the Bais Yaakov of Boro Park hall, and the overflow crowd spilled into classrooms and onto the streets, watching the speeches from video screens.
Over 14,000 people around the world joined the event via COLlive’s live broadcast of the event.
The event began with Tehillim from the Belzer Dayan, Rabbi Gross, followed by R’ Pinchos Lipshutz, publisher of the Yated Ne’eman newspaper.
Reb Avraham Schorr spoke for approximately twenty minutes, suggesting that perhaps the reason that the secular courts are treating one of our own so harshly is that we ourselves have given power to the secular courts to decide the course of our lives by choosing to resolve our disputes there instead of taking matters to Beis Din.
Prominent attorney Nathan Lewin, who is expected to represent Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin in his appeal, spoke in both Yiddish and English about the many injustices done to Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin throughout the case, both by the federal prosecution and the media.
The final speaker of the evening was Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s son, Getzel Rubashkin, who spoke about the toll the ordeal has taken on the Rubashkin family.

It was just unbelievable to see the amount of people coming out to support Sholom Mordechai. It was nice to see Rabbi Osdoba & Rabbi Segel sitting on the Dais with all the other Rabbonim & Rabbi Lipa Brennan from the Pidyon Shivuyim Vaad.
perhaps everyone could spread the word to their kehilla that until rubashkin is freed all Jewish contributions to local, national and federal elections will be rechanneled to the Rubashkin fund.

Hopefully we internilize Achdus and Ahavas Yisroel not only for our Frei Yidden but for fellow Frum Yidden. We should support and stand with Litvishe and Chassidisher Yidden in Boro Park and other from communities in their time of need just as they have stood with a fellow Yid who is a Lubavitcher. A Yid is a Yid and we should always remember we are all one people.
