Batsheva Learning Center has announced a new campaign, an initiative for women and girls of all ages to learn the first book of the Rambam, Sefer Hamada, in a span of 9 weeks – with 1 chapter of the Sefer a day.
Studying Rambam is a campaign started by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in the spring of 1984. In a famous talk, the Rebbe spoke about the initiative to study Rambam daily and how all Jews could, and should, be a part of the cycle, using different tracks. The first track included 3 chapters of study a day, to complete all 14 books of the Rambam’s Mishnah Torah in one year. In the second track, one chapter daily completed the entire cycle in under 3 years.
The Rebbe explained that Rambam is not only for intellectuals or learned people. In fact, the cycle of learning Rambam is specifically to unite Jews from all places, of all ages and genders – especially women!
The sicha concluded that while many women only had the time/capability to learn the Sefer Hamitzvos cycle, those who can, should strive for the 1 perek a day or even 3 perakim a day cycle!
This year is the 14th start of the 1 chapter daily cycle of studying Rambam. At Batsheva Learning Center, we are inviting you to join our initiative – together with a Chavrusa – as one of the 14 groups of women learning the daily chapter of Rambam for 9 weeks, until the 16th of Elul, completing the first of the 14 books of Rambam as a unit!
The initiative will launch with an online event on Sunday, July 12, 6:00 pm ET, featuring Rabbi Levi Kaplan, Mrs. Rivky Slonim and Mrs. Devorah Silberstein.
