As it started its 68th year Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh welcomed over 400 students this past week, its largest enrolment to date.
“While every Jewish neshamah is very precious to us as parents and educators, it is with great pride that we have achieved this enrollment milestone,” explained Rabbi Yisroel Rosenfeld, Head Shliach of Western Pennsylvania and Dean of Yeshiva Schools at the annual Teachers’ in-service meetings.
It was also announced that joining Howard Balsam as co-president is Shlomo Jacobs, a Yeshiva parent and President and founding partner of MarVista Entertainment, a Los Angeles based film and television production and distribution company.
Balsam and Jacobs will work alongside Chairman of the Board, Zev Rudolph, a principle at McKnight Realty Partners, and former president of Yeshiva Schools and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Robin Meyerowitz is joining the Yeshiva as Director of the Preschool, and General Studies Curriculum Coordinator for grades 1-6 in the Girls School.
Meyerowitz is coming from Scottsdale, Arizona, and has directed early childhood education and general studies for the past 25 years. She is a graduate of Columbia University and holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood education from Bank Street College of New York.
Founded in 1943, Yeshiva Schools has seen a large influx of families relocating to Pittsburgh to take advantage of its top notch Limudi Kodesh and general studies program.
“Many new families are moving to Pittsburgh for a Yeshiva Schools education. The combination of affordable housing prices and a healthy local economy, provides a great foundation for a continued flourishing Jewish community,” commented Rabbi Rosenfeld.

i hope they don’t make the mistake of keeping the community concetrated in that one area. it will make the real estate cost og up and other negative effects…. they should keep the good thing they have goig by encouraging some of the families to live in other areas of the city and have more shuls, etc.
a little plannig now will save a lt of heartache later.
otherwise, i think this is awesome!!
