it has been brought to my attention that my comment has drawn some attention. had i imagined anyone would read it i would have put in a little more thought and editing. and here i am again with no time to do either… but i would like to clarify the final sentence. it is freedom of association that allows for clubs, etc to ban Jews. it is the same law that gives the liberty for us to count whom we want in a Minyan… and while i am here again. i would like to mention again that my father, grandfather… Read more »

Some of your comments are a bit foolish:
The reason we don’t have non-Jews in our Minyan does nor stem from hatred while the reasons they will not have us “on their golf courses” does. How can you compare the two????

It’s sad when we need the goyim to remind us that we should not mix socially…

i grew up in Winnipeg. i know some of the names mentioned in this article. Sol Kanne and Albert Cohen were my father’s closest friends. Sam Freedman was my father’s law partner until my father dropped law because he was more interested in doing business. life was not so bad! i grew up in Winnipeg in the 1950’s. my friends were members of the Winter Club. i could go as a guest but could not be a member. there was also a High School Sorority for girls that did not allow Jews. it didn’t bother me. we had our own… Read more »
