Rabbi Sholem Perl, originally from London, and his wife Leah, are blessed with eight children and grandchildren. They live in Los Angeles where the Rebbe sent him to be an educator at the Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad.
One of the highlights of his class was teaching through storytelling. He also had his students captivated when he told stories at Melaveh Malkas and Farbrengens.
In response to the Yeshiva bochur who prefers to learn a trade while learning in Yeshiva, in 2005 he joined Rabbi Mayer Schmukler to open JETS (Jewish Educational Trade School) where he is today Director of Development.
His passion for storytelling is sparked with hope that it will strengthen Emunah and Yiras Shamayim in our youth today. Often asked when his next recording will be made, Rabbi Perl produced an audio recording “The Story of Reb Amnon” with his son Yudi as the child’s voice.
He hopes to continue producing more stories in the near future, COLlive was told.

Right there with #3, “Melave Zuntig” and “Melave Muntig” were special along with a trip to Bushkill Falls (remember?) I never knew that R. Perl is from London. My kids still ask me about the picture with me wearing R. Perl’s special Tzivos Hashem officer’s cap.
I have had the privledge of personally hearing some of Rabbi Perls great stories. Not only is he a great story teller but a true mensch who has a sincere ahavas Yisrael!!
as mentioned earlier The Rebbe in Igros Kodesh Vol 9 P 65, questions according to Halacha it is forbidden to cause harm to oneself.
if one is to tell this story, the correct way is to repeat it with the Rebbe’s Comments.
K’siva V’chasima Tova to all!
rabbi amnon and rabbi solom and others are really good at the play.
an old friends sister
i am 35, and still remember rabbi perl’s stories from third grade in LA. i still remember the faithful mission and golem stories. when I read these stories in the original books which you probably got them from, does not do the story justice. the third grade version i heard from you were much better. your stories kept us interested and excited to learn. it’s nice to hear you voice again, it has not changed much. Hatzlacha Raba !!
An old student!!
The story is written in the storeyteller – for one source, which is where Rabbi Perl told the story from.
Concerning the rebbes igros: perhaps u should look at it a little closer bc the rebbe doesn’t doubt “the story”. The rebbe merely doubts whether r amnon actually paskened something that would hurt himself. The story as a whole is true, and is the reason we have unisaneh tokef.
Were is this story written.
very animated!
Look in the Siddur. It’s “nishmosee b’chemlah” not ” b’chemlah rabbah”.
Great Story!
Great story and lesson! Keep it coming!!

The only rebbe to make Melaveh Sundays!
The best 6th grade rebbe we could have had.
Still remember the apt on the corner of Kingston and Eastern Parkway.
And who can forget the “it’s 2:20, time for Mincha” at a cliffhanger in your daily stories!
We love you Sholom!
Wishing you an easy life and much nachas. Youre a good man and Hashem will reward you.
