As the pain of our people sits heavy on all our hearts, here at The Space, operations are in full swing as we remain committed to our mission of ensuring that every girl in Crown Heights has the community and connection that she is in need of.
In times like these, when the world feels uncertain and chaotic, it becomes even more essential to create safe and nurturing spaces where girls can take a break from Social Media, build meaningful relationships, and have outlets for expression. Because of this, our commitment to all the girls who walk through our doors is stronger than ever.
Last week, The Space hosted a Grand Unity Challah Bake in honor of our brothers and sisters in Israel. Words can not describe the power that was felt in the room as hundreds of women and teens gathered together in connection and unity. As the Challa was rising, we joined together in a kumzitz led by Sara New, singing songs of unity, pain, and redemption.
For those few hours, nobody in the room felt powerless. The Rebbe’s mission was ringing through everyone’s souls: We are the women bringing Moshiach.
While that program will be remembered in all our hearts forever, the real power of The Space is in the value it provides to the girls of Crown Heights, every single day.
Day in and day out, teens and young women find comfort, warmth and connection the moment they walk through our doors.
While The Space is open every day from 10-10 for people to come and relax, study, connect, play, and enjoy, we also have many programs going on, empowering all young women and girls of our community with outlets for expression, connection, healing and learning.
In the evenings for teens:
On Mondays and Thursdays at 7 pm, we have dinner nights, with different delicious foods every week like pizza, Chinese food, sushi, salad bars and more. Dinner nights are opportunities for girls to feel physically, spiritually and emotionally nurtured as they connect with staff and each other.
On Tuesdays at 7, we have a yoga class, led by Risa Freeman, allowing girls to connect to their body’s and find the center of peace and calm that is inside of them.
And on Wednesdays at 7, Moussia Goldman leads an art class, which focuses on a different art skill every week, empowering the girls with an outlet to express themselves creatively.
In the mornings for young women:
In honor of Eretz Yisroel, The Space now hosts an opportunity for girls and young women to come together for davening every morning at 8 am. Come by on your way to work to join with
your fellow sisters in davening, as we connect to Hashem with concentration, intention, love and joy.
Finally, we are so excited to announce that starting this week, The Space will once again be hosting a morning Daily Tanya class, led by Chana Rahmani. Daily Tanya at The Space is not just another Tanya Class. Every day of learning brings you on a journey of how the Tanya applies to our psychological and emotional worlds, and explores how ultimate healing and wholeness can be achieved through the Alter Rebbe’s wisdom. The class takes place every morning from 9:30-10. All women are invited to join, and of course, to stay at The Space after the class to daven or do remote work. Delicious, fresh pastries and coffee are served daily.
The Space Daily Tanya Class can also be found on Spotify under “Daily Tanya for the You that You Are”
