Last Sunday, The Space CH hosted their very first event of the year with a Kick-Off Café.
The soft music in the background, the hustle and bustle of girls chatting, playing and painting, and the incredible new staff just gave it the wholesome place it was created to be!
The Kick-Off Café gave a taste of what’s to come & , gave everyone a chance to experience the heart of The Space, community, fun, connection, warmth, and meaning, We even overheard girls saying things like, “This is the best place in Crown Heights” and “I love this place!” — which is exactly what we love to hear, because it shows that what we’re building here matters.
And of course, no café vibe is complete without good food. The coffee bar was a total hit, and it was surrounded by fresh fruit, baked treats, and a popcorn bar that everyone kept coming back to.
The Kick-Off Café was more than just great food and décor — it was about connection and self-expression. Thoughtful icebreaker questions helped shift the vibe from small talk to meaningful conversations, and the magnet activity, where each girl decorated a magnet with her goals for the year, was simple yet powerful. One of the most touching moments was the “Advice Wall,” where everyone wrote a message to someone in the grade the grade below — sharing wisdom, support, and encouragement.
A huge shoutout to Mina Teichtel and Kayla Prus for organizing the event with so much heart and creativity. From planning to setup, every detail reflected what The Space is all about.
SHOUT OUT to our amazing staff: Sheina Gross, our on-site director, and our dedicated evening team — Sara Vorovitch, Miriam Pelman, Rosie Jaffe, and Chaya Mushka Bialo. Their passion and care are what make The Space a true home away from home.
At its core, the Kick-Off Café was about belonging. We hope every girl left feeling, “I belong here. There’s a place for me in CH.” Because that’s what The Space is all about — a home base where girls can connect, grow, and know they’re not alone.
