As the world reels from the impact of COVID-19 and billions take urgent measures to ensure their health and well-being, the Jewish people turn to Torah for guidance.
Torah commands us to follow the guidelines of medical professionals. At the same time, it provides us with specific spiritual measures to protect our safety and well-being. In this 1986 address, the Rebbe suggests a method to preemptively immunize against illness.
In 1985, the Rebbe declared a campaign to promote study of Maimonides’ compendium of Jewish law, Mishneh Torah. The study would unite the entire Jewish people, providing an opportunity to cover this summary of the entire Torah, through one of three daily study tracks.
The Rebbe explains how this study will also serve as a preventative medicine for illness.
