“Mommy, Mendy keeps hitting me!” one child complained.
“And he’s not cleaning, just throwing Lego around!” another sibling echoed.
Mussi felt the familiar sadness settle on her shoulders. Life on Shlichus usually energized her, but today, with Pesach less than two weeks away and Mendy struggling with the chaos, she wondered how she’d manage it all.
The cleaning, cooking, and endless to-do lists. Her other children, frustrated by another difficult day with their brother, whose special needs often took center stage.
Then a box arrived at her door.
“I didn’t ask for it,” Mussi says. “But somehow, Yaldei knew exactly what we needed.”
Inside were Pesach gifts for the children, and a check for the family. It was breathing room, the financial pressure of Yom Tov lifted enough to let Mussi focus on her children.
For the kids, Yaldei’s thoughtfully chosen presents were the highlight of the day.
“Mendy had been having such a rough time, and his siblings were at their breaking point,” Mussi explains. “But when I showed them what came: ‘Look what we got for Pesach because of your brother!’…everything changed.” For a precious moment, Mendy was the reason for their joy.
Yaldei understands that moment.
Every year before Pesach, Yaldei sends support tailored to each family’s size and circumstances. Not every family receives – and not every family receives the same amount. The size and number of the checks are completely dependent on the funds available.
“It’s more than a check,” Mussi says. “They reminded us we’re not alone.”
And this year, you can be the reason more families like hers – raising children with special needs while on Shlichus – have that moment of reassurance.
Yaldei’s yom tov assistance is going out soon. The number of families we can help depends on the funds raised. Please donate today – send a hug and crucial help to Shluchim raising children with special needs.
