why do we need to look at other communities, our own Rabbonim have said time and again that we shouldn’t have internet in our homes, if we don’t listen to our own rabbis, are we gonna listen to someone else’s?

They are right…. Did the Rebbe permit TV? ABSLOUTELY NOT. These phones make TV look harmless. And I believe any man who says otherwise is covering up…

The truth is that the chachomim in past generations made siyogim for us we didn’t have to do it ourselves as sometimes it’s hard.
The problem is that a complete ban isn’t the answer since “ein hatzibur yochol lamod bo”.

A serious group of rabonim from all groups ( Chabad, litvish, chasidish…) must get together and organize a serious das torah on the issue.

And yet...

Just last week there was an article on the shmutz in the internet. Having an internet capable phone is asking for trouble. This is one area where Chabad should take a lesson. From last week’s article it’s clear that many need whatever protection they can get.

LIVE LIFE ITS SERIOUS!

This IS something everyone should take seriously! It can be used for both good and bad. This is a perfect Rav and Mashpia question. Let no one fool themselves. Do it for your own benefit!

Where is our Rabonim
February 5, 2012 11:41 pm

The dangers of the Internet is huge, If the Rebbe didn’t allow TV the internet is much worse.

why is this even news on a chabad site?
February 5, 2012 10:59 pm

Chassidus teaches us that we need make spirituality especially from the mundane. The Rebbe’s outlook was always to use technology for good. smart phones are a tool just like anything else in life, and could be used for good or bad. Rather than focusing and advertising the “bad” that can be done with smartphones, they would be much better off advertising how you can learn chitas, rambam, daf hayomi and have many seforim with you wherever you go. I guess that “b’mkom s’machshvto shel adam, sham hu”… actually, these rabbis probably don’t know much about these devices, it’s probably the… Read more »
