A large gathering of hundreds of bochurim, students who learn in the Central Yeshiva 770, took place at ‘Getzel shul’ in Crown Heights.
The bochurim were preparing for the world-wide ‘kupas bachurim’ Purim campaign which helps the students throughout the year.
Kupas Bachurim help the Bochurim in 770, whether in Kevutzah or in the following years, who are immersed in their Torah study day and night, with basic necessities.
Many of them don’t have the ability to support themselves with the most needed day to day necessities, and when it comes to extra large expenses (such as a winter coat, clothing (from a hat to socks and shoes), Yom Tov expenses and more, they have nowhere to turn.
Kupas Bachurim has taken upon itself to fill this void. The organization, run by Temimim themselves, take great care of their brothers at any given moment, providing clothing and winter coats for more than 400 bochurim.
The event was led by Chanoch Hecht, who explained the campaign idea and plan step by step, and explained how each and every one of the bochurim themselves can participate and help.
Meir Wisnefsky, head of the ‘kupas bachurim’ organization, also spoke, and gave over practical ideas which the bochurim can use during the day of Purim, as they man booths in Crown Heights, in Manhattan, and other locations.
Rabbi Avrohom Lieder, director of the Ahavas Chesed organization, inspired the crowd and explained the importance of everyone’s participation in the campaign: bochurim, Anash in Crown Heights and around the world, who truly want to help the Rebbe’s children.
Anash in Crown Heights and around the world are welcome to donate and participate in the ‘kupas bachurim’ campaign, which will be going on during the week of Purim.
