Friday, the 14th of Cheshvan 5754, 5:39 pm. Shabbos is about the spread its wings and we are standing, hoping, waiting, looking up – will we merit today?
Since last Sunday, after Maariv davening, we have not merited to see the holy face of the Rebbe. It has already been 5 days that the Rebbe hasn’t joined davening in public and the longing is intense.
About 20 minutes ago, at 5:20 pm, a happy message was suddenly received on the beepers: “Mincha now,” and the Rebbe entered for Mincha davening with the public.
The davening ended some 4 minutes ago. the blinds in the room were lowered and we are standing, looking for the curtain of the balcony wondering – will we merit to see the Rebbe?
Rebbe, we miss seeing you. Every minute seems like an eternity. A minute went by, and another minute, and another minute, and another minute – will we meet?
At 5:40 pm – we are fortunate! The curtain was drawn and here we are able to see the Rebbe again. We are looking and looking…
Oh, Hashem in Heaven, may this moment never end. We are standing and singing, standing and crying, standing and praying, praying with all our hearts, begging to Hashem, Ribono Shel Olam, “Long live our master!”
The Rebbe sat on the balcony for 5 full minutes and encouraged the singing. These were 5 minutes that we got to see the Rebbe…
And then the Rebbe turned to his left, as a sign to close the curtain. The curtain was closed…
The curtain was closed and we did not see the Rebbe again.
The curtain was closed on the balcony and the curtain was closed on us. Our world went dark.
The curtain closed, and has been closed since then, and until today, we have not seen the light of his face again…
Since that moment, since the curtain has closed on the 14th of Cheshvan 5754, we have not seen the Rebbe again…
Oy, Rebbe! When will we once again see your face, a king in his beauty? Ribono Shel Olam, when will this curtain be torn down?
We want Moshiach now! No more Galus!!

they were singing “yechi” and the Rebbe would nod his head and raise his hand to encourage the singing
