An Israel Air Force aircraft targeted a vehicle in which two senior Hamas terrorists were traveling in the Jenin area on Wednesday.
One of the passengers killed in the strike was Ahmed Barkat, the terrorist who led the shooting attack that murdered Meir Tamari in Hermesh, northern Samaria, in May 2023.
Also targeted was Mohammad Hawashin, commander of the Hamas terror infrastructure in Jenin, along with two other terrorists.
These terrorists had carried out significant terrorist activities and attacks against Israeli civilians in recent days, Israel said.
They were behind the attempted insertion of an explosive device into Israeli territory, which was thwarted on March 11, and they were also responsible for the explosive device attack carried out against IDF forces on March 8, during which seven soldiers were injured at the Humsa Junction.
Tamari, born to a Chabad family in Tzfas, was a resident of Hermesh. He was a husband and father of two children aged one and three.
His father is Rabbi Moshe Tamari is one of the veteran residents of the Chabad community in Tzfas. Meir, may his memory be blessed, studied in Chabad institutions in the northern holy city.
“The IDF and Shin Bet will continue to act to remove any threat and terror infrastructure that operate to carry out murderous attacks and will also deal with those who harm Israeli civilians,” the IDF and Shin Bet stated.
