A Tashlich pond on Albany Avenue near Montgomery Street in Crown Heights has been prepared and filled with fish once again ahead of Rosh Hashana.
Sponsored and hosted by philanthropist R’ Dovid and Gittel Fischer, and built by resident Mordy Hecht, the new pond provides much needed space for locals and guests to recite Tashlich.
This location in the heart of Crown Heights is also helpful for the elderly and those who have a hard time walking to Eastern Parkway for that side of the neighborhood.
Organizers ask that strollers should be kept to the right side of the Tashliach (towards Empire Blvd). The men’s section will be to the left side of Tashlich (closer to Montgomery Street).
With the large crowds that gather, we kindly ask everyone to follow these guidelines to help create a modest, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all.
A heartfelt thank you to the organizers and partners who make this possible: Mordy Hecht – Event coordination, Mendy Hershkop – Shomrim, Sgt. Mike Baratta and Officer Conners – NYPD 71st Precinct.
The Tashlich pond at 770 Eastern Parkway, which the Rebbe used, is usually packed on the afternoon of Rosh Hashana, when we have the custom to visit and recite a tefillah and symbolically “cast away” our sins.
A second smaller pond, built on the porch outside the 770 women’s section a number of years ago, also gets very crowded, with the thousands of residents and guests all arriving on the same day to observe the custom.

For the past few years there has also been a Tashlich Pond in “south crown heights”/East Flatbush on E 45th ST between Rutland and Winthrop.
Would also like to give a big thank you to Hishi Fischer for all his hard work in making this happen.
