An edition of the Tanya was printed in the New York State Executive Mansion in Albany, NY on Tuesday, alongside NY State Governor Kathy Hochul.
The 8,551st edition of the Tanya was printed during the Governor’s pre-Chanukah celebration, attended by leaders and members of the Jewish community.
The historic and monumental Tanya printing, conducted for the first time at the Governor’s Mansion, was initiated and organized at the request of Rabbi Chanina Sperlin, with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul, who made it possible on short notice. It was conducted by Rabbi Shmuly Butler of Crown Heights.
The Governor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the Tanya printing at the mansion, with valuable assistance provided by Jake Adler and Eva Wyner from the Governor’s Office for Jewish Affairs.
After printing the first copies, learning of the Tanya was led by Rabbi Yossi Rubin, Shliach to Clifton Park, NY, who participated alongside his father, Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, Head Shliach of Albany, NY, as well as Rabbi Shmuly and Mrs. Laiky Rubin, Shluchim to Chabad at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
Also in attendance were Israel Spitzer – the Mayor of New Square, Yeruchim Silber of Agudath Israel, Rabbi Moshe Bomzer of the Vaad Hakashrus of Albany, Yoel Lefkowitz from New York State Attorney General’s office, Rabbi Moishe Indig from Satmar, Kiryas Joel Village Administrator Gedalye Szegedin, Allie Pinkasovits – Mayor of the village of Kaser, Rabbi Yechiel Kalish – CEO of Chevra Hatzalah, Rabbi Simcha Bernard – Chaplain Sullivan County Sheriff’s office and noted asken Mr. Yehuda Zorger.
The Governor joined the printing after she addressed the pre-Chanukah party, and guests enjoyed Glatt kosher delicacies prepared with Lubavitch Shechita meat.
