On the 9th Shevat/9th January, Tzemach Tzedek Community Centre of Sydney, Australia, completed the 32nd cycle and started the 33rd cycle of Rambam.
Rabbi Yehuda Spielman was the emcee of the of the evening and welcomed all the dignitaries and visitors to the Siyum.
Rabbi Avrohom Perlow, Rov of Tzemach Tzedek, began with an introduction on the history of The Rambam, which included an in-depth background of the life of The Rambam. Rabbi Perlow was honored with the completion of the 32nd Cycle of the Rambam.
The second speaker for the evening was Rabbi Yoni Johnson, Rosh Hakollel, Melbourne Yeshiva. He began with the start of the 33rd cycle, mentioned how it is a simcha for everyone, whether you are learning Sefer Hamitzvos, 1 Perek or 3 Perokim a day or for someone who is just about to start. Rabbi Johnson stressed the importance of 33 and the importance of learning Rambam and wished everyone a Mazel Tov.
Rabbi Michoel Gourarie, Director Of Bina gave Divrei Chizzuk. Mentioned the Rebbe stressing the importance of participating in a Siyum Harambam. With technology today there are so many ways people can connect to the learning the work of the Rambam. A story about the Rebbe wanting a Siyum Harambam in Cairo and the steps taken to make it happen. He connected the Siyum to the upcoming special day of Yud Shevat and mentioned the brochos that people get for learning the Rambam.
A video of The Rebbe was shown, where the Rebbe discusses how the Rambam derives pleasure when people are learning his teachings and when people say Rambam, the lips of The Rambam move. In this Sicha the Rebbe also stresses the importance of everyone participating in a Siyum Harambam.
The Siyum was followed by Maariv, Lchaim and refreshments.
