An antisemitic stabbing in Crown Heights last Tuesday evening has led to an arrest, as the suspect surrendered to police on Monday.
The victim, a 35 year old Jewish man was walking along Kingston Avenue near Lincoln Place at approximately 5:00 pm when he was approached by a Black male.
According to the victim, the attacker produced a knife, made antisemitic statements, and stabbed him multiple times in the chest before fleeing northbound on Kingston Avenue.
The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he was treated for non life threatening injuries.
On Monday, police confirmed that the suspect, identified as Armani Charles, surrendered himself to the 77th Precinct. Charges are pending.
Charles is a resident of Crown Heights, residing on Midwood Street near Kingston Avenue, police said.
In the aftermath of the attack, community leaders expressed deep concern over what they describe as a troubling rise in violent antisemitic incidents in Crown Heights in recent weeks.
Earlier in the week, both Devorah Halberstam and Rabbi Chanina Sperlin, along with members of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, met with Jessica Tisch, the NYPD Commissioner, to address the situation.
The NYPD continues to investigate the incident as a possible hate crime.

This attack, by far, is the worst attack on a Jew that we’ve seen in years and i see very little outrage!
The stabbing would have killed the victim, had he not had, what appears background in self defense.The stabbing was straight for the heart with huge force.
