Brooklyn, NY (February 17th 2013) – For the fourth year in a row, the Crown Heights Young Initiative Committee of RCCS (Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society) proved their support for the life-saving work of RCCS (who assist the most needy and ill members of our community) by participating in droves at the most recent RCCS/Crown Heights Breakfast.
For the past fifteen years RCCS has been assisting a large number of Shluchim throughout the United States, as well as for many Crown Heights residents, providing a vast array of services for cancer-stricken patients in need. Unfortunately, in the last couple of years, Crown Heights and its environs has seen a dramatic increase of cancer cases.
“In the past 8 years that I have been involved with the organization, I have seen far too many cases within this community,” says Yoli Brill, Managing Director, RCCS.
In the last year alone, according to the organization, they have spent close to a half a million dollars for patients in Crown Heights and Shluchim across the country.
With a budget approaching 6 million dollars for here and in Israel, RCCS raises money only through community events, like this breakfast, to subsidize the insurance premiums of these patients.
Rabbi Moshe Klein, chairman of the application board at RCCS, receives numerous calls weekly about cases where, without the proper coverage, these patients would not be able to reach the best doctors or hospitals. Oftentimes, that makes the difference between life and death.
The event this past Sunday, by the Crown Heights Young Initiative Committee of RCCS (Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society) was once again hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Moshe Kops and was chaired by Mendy Wilhelm who continues to be at the forefront of RCCS chessed in the Crown Heights area.
If you were unable to attend or you would like to host a parlor meeting, or if you would like to learn more about the life-saving work of RCCS, please visit there website at www.rccscancer.org or call 718 722 2002.
