S. Thomas University (STU) in Miami is making waves as a welcoming hub for Jewish students across its Law, Business, Design, and athletics programs. Over the past decade, the campus has grown from a handful of Jewish law students to more than 100 actively involved through Chabad, with Rabbi Mendy and Tzippy Weiss serving as recognized faculty members and advisors.
A standout feature of STU’s Jewish life is its commitment to cultural and religious traditions. The campus proudly hosts:
A large Sukkah for students during the Sukkot holiday, Public Pesach Seder events and Public menorah lightings, among many other events.
These celebrations, along with regular Jewish events, reflect the university’s inclusive spirit and pride in Jewish heritage. In less than a month, the campus will host a fashion show featuring Elie Tahari to honor wounded Israeli female soldiers from the IDF.
Students and professors alike have expressed appreciation for the supportive environment, noting that they feel valued, heard, and accepted as they express their Jewish identity. Recently, many Jewish students and faculty gathered at the campus Sukkah for Lulav and Esrog shaking and a communal Chinese food meal, underscoring the strong sense of community at STU.
