In a stash of photos obtained by Hasidic Archives, families who had smuggled across the border between the Soviet Union and Poland—and who later resided in Pocking, Germany, and the suburbs of Paris, France—can be seen in family portraits.
Among the first batch released today are photos of the Kazen (23), Deitsch (17, 20 and 21), Rivkin (4), Garelik (5 and 12), Teibel (7), and Kaminetsky (18) families.
Can you identify any of the others in the photos?

Notice nobody Ever smiles !
It was not a thing to smile in photos. No one usually did.
This fact shows clearly on the tense circumstances they experienced
Maybe because of the trauma that these people have gone through.
Why were these photos taken and where did they suddenly appear from? Were they sent to the F”R?
They didn’t smile because, maybe life was hard, but maybe it was just that people were more sincere than today, whenwe pose and put on insincere smiles.
They didnt have time, life was no nonsense. It dosn’t mean they couldn’t smile, in the right time.
these were professional pictures send to the Frierdikeh Rebbe
they BH BH able to leave and and they send family pictures.
in general in Russia and Europe one didn’t smile in pictures or passport pictures , people were serious!
it was serious times, may we never ever know of them again
