After the first shul was built, the womens section was right out side the Rebbe’s Room and they put up wood paneling, Years later when one of the Gaboim wanted to some work in the Ladys section and waited for the Rebbe to go home so not to disturb the Rebbe, he noticed a crack in seem of the wood paneling and was able to look in to Rebbe Room (could not hear any thing because of the windows) and saw that rebbe wanlooking seforim going from one shelf to another with full of energy and did not slow down… Read more »
I heard it said that from that porch (at an angle) u could see the Rebbe studying in his room. Was that true ? & how
This is not between the library and 770. It is the driveway to the left of 770.
To the left you can see the porch that had a door that led to the hallway of the entrance to the Rebbe’s room (Gan Eden hatachton) There is a picture of the Rebbe standing on the porch looking down at a children’s rally. There were steps coming down from the porch, leading to the driveway (now the entrance to the men’s shul). I was once standing on the porch, and to my utter surprise the Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka opened the door, and walked down those stairs. What priceless memories these pictures conjure…

As there were fewer men at chuppas, some women would stand below as you can see in the book Mekadesh Israel. During farbrenens the Rebbe sat at a table straight across below the railing, and we girls would sit… Read more »
Driveway on the ride side of 700 going to the Parking Lot
wooooooow go zaidy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the driveway that led down to the garages at 770 from Eastern Parkway. It used to house the large Succah for Tishrei
This is where the Shlash once stood – which is approximately now the space where the back of the big shul downstairs is located.
This was taken in the lower level of 770 – which is now the downstairs bais medrash.
During the very early years – the downstairs was the “garage” of the building, it also used to be the sukkah area, before it was built along the side as it is now.
