A unique farbrengen took place Monday night in the Upper West Side home of Mr. David and Lara Slager, the philanthropists underwriting the $5 million Machne Israel Early Childhood Initiative.
The shluchim in attendance, recipients of this year’s grants, related their accomplishments made possible through the initiative and the tremendous impact it has already had on their communities. Slager expressed his delight with the progress to date, and his anticipation for further development of the initiative in the coming year.
The Chairman of Machne Israel Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky who originally approached Mr. Slager with the idea for the MIDF Early Childhood Initiative farbrenged with the assembled, recalling numerous personal experiences with the Rebbe and Rebbetzin and recounting the events of Rosh Chodesh Kislev.
Also in attendance were Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky, director of the Machne Israel Development Fund; Rabbi Shlomo Kugel and Rabbi Meir Ossey, executive director and associate director of Chabad of the West Side; Rabbi Shmuel Metzger, director of Upper Midtown Chabad: and Rabbi Uriel Vigler, director of Chabad Israel Center of the Upper East Side.
The Early Childhood Initiative, a project of the Machne Israel Development Fund, was established this past April to promote Jewish continuity through the development of a network of Jewish preschools.
