After opening their doors again, shuls and Chabad centers around California will be stopping in-person activities as part of a statewide shutdown declared on Monday by Governor Gavin Newsom.
As of Monday, the state has more than 320,000 COVID-19 cases and more than 7,000 deaths, ABC7 reported. The death toll climbed by 23 since Sunday.
“This continues to be a deadly disease,” Newsom said in a press conference. “We’re moving back into a modification mode of our original stay-at-home order.”
Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties, which are on the state’s watch list, are being required to close operations of places of worship, offices in non-critical sectors, indoor malls, gyms, hair salons, barbershops and other personal care services.
Newsom ordered all counties in California to close all indoor operations at wineries, tasting rooms, bars, family entertainment centers, zoo and museums.
Restaurants are being told to cease indoor operations. Outdoor dining and takeout are still allowed.

Most shuls were davvening outside anyway which is still allowed. All of the closures are connected to inside activity.
Indoor shul services are cancelled. Outdoor is still allowed (for now).
CH should be more careful also. Nobody wants to go back to 200 cases a day.
This was inevitable. It was just a matter of time after the riots.
It has nothing to do with riots.
Beaches, bars and restaurants opened, and they quickly had a very large very rapid increase in new cases.
How can you factually say that when the riots and protest were 3-4 weeks non stop, no social distancing and many cases no mask, than they went home and on vacation to bars and grills and beaches. use your brain numbers between 18-30 grew tremendously. what was the reason for that ? what took place that would be the case? what were the average age of the rioters and protesters. no nothing to do with the riots cant be! many of the “new” cases being reported in CA are patients being airlifted to hospitals in CA from Mexico on the tax payers dime.
