This upcoming Kinus Hashlushim convention will providing participating Shluchim with an old/new experience involving the trademark question “Are you Jewish?”
A group of bochurim will be arranging transportation on the iconic Mitzvah Tanks for Shluchim wishing to join a route in various places in New York City and offering men to put on Tefillin and Shabbos candles to women.
The project is being organized in memory of Rabbi Dovid Raskin OBM, the late chairman of the Lubavitch Youth Organization (Tzach) and who spearheaded many educational Mivtzoim campaigns instituted by the Rebbe.
COLlive.com has learned that another program in the Kinus will be influenced by Rabbi Raskin. A Thursday morning session at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel is titled “Horaos from the Rebbe to R’ Dovid Raskin and Tzach.”
Rabbi Kasriel Kastel, Program Director of Tzach will be giving a retrospective and forward-looking overview about the enduring legacy, message and personality of Rabbi Raskin and the directives he received from the Rebbe.
Meanwhile, the family is starting to write a new Sefer Torah in honor of Rabbi Raskin and his daughter Mrs. Chaya Mushka Pearson OBM, a school teacher and active participant in Nshei Chabad of Philadelphia.
At the age of 14, Chaya Mushka was in a near fatal car accident. After the doctors gave up on her, her father “gave her over” to the Rebbe. The Rebbe, in turn, personally oversaw her medical treatment daily and finally, with the Rebbe’s bracha, Mrs. Pearson emerged from a 12 week coma.
For the next 30 years, Chaya Mushka referred to herself as the Rebbe’s child, and in that vein, was truly a devoted chassid of the Rebbe—and an exemplar of emunah and bitachon in Hashem—until she succumbed to a lengthy illness at the age of 44.
