On Motzoei Shabbos, February 26, 2011, the Lubavitch Center of Essex County held their annual Melave Malka Fundraising Dinner in the newly renovated Ballroom at Congregation Ohr Torah in West Orange, NJ.
Evening Honorees, Robert and Ida Dick were presented with an award as founding members, supporters, and long time friends of the Lubavitch Center.
Guests were greeted with music by Bnai Jazz and a wine and scotch tasting, as they took their seats in an evening of lauding community members’ commitment to yiddishkeit.
It was also a testimony to the dedicated work of the Chabad Shluchim Rabbi Boruch Klar and his wife Devorah and Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz and his wife Altie.
The evening’s guests of honor were Ida and Robert Dick, founding members of the Lubavitch Center of Essex County and instrumental in founding the regular Shabbos and daily Minyanim.
“Their vision of a Chabad presence to serve the needs of the greater Essex County Jewish community has been realized through their dedication and leadership over the years,” the Shluchim said.
Ida has spearheaded Chesed and Sisterhood committees, while Robert has served on the Executive Board of the Shul as treasurer.
The second honoree was Michael Kessel, President of the Lubavitch Center Shul since 2007. With his leadership and guidance, the organization has grown and continues to thrive, offering many types of programming and services to families, seniors, children and adults.
Together with his wife Sharon, Michael’s tireless efforts have made the Shul a special and unique place for our community, the Shluchim said before presenting him with the Community Leadership Award.
May Hashem bless you (us) all 100 times over for your (our) hard work on behalf of Lubavitch and for carrying out the Rebbe’s mission of bringing about the geulah hashlayma!
