Shluchim Host Pesach Program in South Africa

Joining with fellow Jews from across South Africa and around the world guests enjoyed an incredible Pesach experience at the spectacular Hunters Rest Golf Resort & Spa in Rustenburg, South Africa with breathtaking views, delectable food, and a magical atmosphere.

Nestled in the picturesque Magalies Mountains, Hunters Rest Resort is an ideal location for Yom Tov. It offers guests the perfect blend of comfort and adventure. The entire resort is reserved for the Pesach programme. With a variety of room types all featuring comfortable modern amenities, as well as a private patio to enjoy gorgeous panoramic views of the magnificent mountains.

The hotel boasts a spa, swimming pool, golf course, heated outdoor pool, adventure and health centre, miniature golf, gym, mountain biking trails, hiking/jogging trails, sports jungle gyms and more. The on-site Adventure Centre offers ATV quad biking, paintball, archery, and other activities for the entire family.

Guests had the options to either join in the interactive communal Seder conducted by the Kievman family or to have their own family seder in one of the multiple dining halls. What a special vibe as elegant ballrooms filled with sounds of Mah Nishtanah and singing popular Pesach melodies.

During Chol Hamoed guests explored many incredible attractions in the heart of the country, or some chose to stay on-site for poolside braais and relaxing afternoons. Each evening of Chol Hamoed saw fabulous entertainment to tickle one’s senses including Ilan Smith’s magical illusions, Chazan Yudi Cohen’s soothing voice, Brothers in Beat interactive drumming to the sounds of known Chassidic and African songs. All Shabbos meals feature the Brill Brothers melodious singing.

The days were filled with stimulating lecture, shiurim, and workshops on many topics of interest.

The entire resort was exclusively Kosher for Pesach under strict rabbinical supervision of the Johannesburg Beis Din.

The retreat is run by Chabad Shluchim Rabbi Ari and Batya Kievman offers a rich Pesach and for the Shabbos after experience of warmth, meaning and community. 300 guest enjoyed incredible hospitality, meaningful programming and on-site resort activities. Each set of Yom Tov and Shabbos was ushered in with a women’s candle lighting meditation, followed by an electrifying Shul Service with spirited singing and inspiring insights. Sumptuous meals and Oneg Farbrengens followed. Guest Les filled their days with many activities, stimulating shiurim, and much deserved R&R. There was a fully stocked Shul. All was provided to allow guest to fill their days with meaning and warmth.

Celebrated executive chef, Doron Gavronsky, offered a diverse and sumptuous menu. Delight your palate with three daily meals and constantly stocked tea-rooms including all the gastronomic Pesach favorites. Guests are welcomed with an abundance of culinary delights, entertainment programs for the children and adults alike.

The program’s KidsClub is manned by caring counsellors and stocked with activities and toys. Activities included sports, arts & crafts, jumping castles, swimming, special feature films, and uniquely African entertainment.
