The group of Lubavitch bochurim who will be serving this year as ‘Talmidim Hashluchim’ to the Chabad Yeshiva Toras Emes departed on Wednesday to their post in Jerusalem.
This year marks a centennial of Shlichus to the Yeshiva, with the first group being sent by the Rebbe Rashab who founded the Yeshiva in 5672 (1912).
In accordance with the Rebbe’s instructions to shluchim to Fabreng before their departure, a Fabrengen was held Tuesday night in the small shul in 770 Eastern Parkway.
The Mashpiim of Oholei Torah, Rabbi Nachman Shapiro and Rabbi Sholom Charitonow, joined by the Talmidim Shluchim of previous years, farbrenged with the new Shluchim.
Specially emphasized was the recently released Ksav Yad – Manuscript – of the Rebbe to Rabbi JJ Hecht (attached below) on his mission to Israel in 5727 (1927).
The next morning, the Talmidim Shluchim were escorted from 770 to the Rebbe’s Ohel and then to JFK airport. Upon arrival in Israel they were greeted by Rabbi Mendel Wilhelm, Shliach to Eged, and the bochurim from the Yeshiva, who broke out in spontaneous dancing.
They were also warmly welcomed in the Yeshiva with a Kabolas Ponim Thursday night, and later went to the Kotel with the Hanhala to put a note in the Western Wall, inscribing their names and the names of the previous Shluchim, per the Rebbe’s request in a Yechidus to Shluchim in the 70’s.
