A court in Poland ruled in favor of Chabad Rabbi Eliezer Gurary operating again the historic Izaak synagogue in Krakow after months of a legal battle.
As reported on COLive.com, a minority faction within the Krakow Jewish community leadership locked the doors and brought a stop to the prayers and communal activities by Rabbi Gurary.
The Izaak synagogue was built in 1644 and has withstood the evils of Nazism and the corruption of socialism to be a fixture of Krakow minyanim.
“It is a great joy and excitement to return to the shul,” Rabbi Gurary commented on Wednesday. “The court ruled that the community must transfer the keys to Chabad. We plan a large event to welcome a new Sefer Torah to it.”
He thanked the Rabbinical Center of Europe for their support throughout the ordeal.
