Rabbi Dov Muchnik and Rabbi Yosef Brod, two Shluchim serving in California, traveled to Israel this week to pay a Shiva call to Rabbi Shmuli Schlanger, their colleague who serves as a Shliach in Bakersfield, CA.
Rabbi Schlanger is sitting Shiva, together with his parents, Rabbi Binyomin and Dobra Schlanger, in Jerusalem, Israel, after the murder of their son and brother, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a Shliach in Sydney, Australia who was killed in the Bondi massacre on the first night of Chanukah.
The two Shluchim were selected to represent their fellow Shluchim in the Shiva visit.
During the flight, Rabbi Muchnik was introduced by the flight attendant and lit a ceremonial Menorah on the flight, adding light and bringing inspiration to fellow passengers.
The two Shluchim spent the flight helping many on the plane don Tefillin in memory of Rabbi Eli Schlanger HY”D.
“This is our response, we add in light,” Rabbi Muchnik said.

Way to represent and bring light to the world
I’m blown away. I know we do this every day but still. Look how many ppl put on tefillin on that flight! And happily!
ישר כח גדול!!!!
