For the sixth consecutive year, the 8th-grade boys of Cheder Chabad Monsey are participating in a weekly Minchas Chinuch shiur, held every Wednesday evening. The shiur is given by Rabbi Dubinsky, the 8th-grade rebbi, who provides the bochurim with an opportunity to be exposed to and explore Halacha on a new level. Despite being voluntary and scheduled after school hours, the shiur has become a beloved tradition.
The Minchas Chinuch serves as a halachic commentary on the Sefer HaChinuch, a work that systematically covers the 613 mitzvos, their sources in the Torah, and their philosophical underpinnings. The Minchas Chinuch offers a halachic perspective through the Gemara and Rishonim. The Shiur is currently focusing on Mitzvah 31 (Mitzvah Lamed Alef), which delves into the halachic intricacies of the mitzvah of Kiddush Shabbos B’devorim—sanctifying Shabbos with words.
Each week, the bochurim also enjoy refreshments, creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for learning. Even though the shiur is voluntary, it is attended by many students in the 8th grade. Talmidim from out of town even stay overnight at friends’ homes to ensure they don’t miss it.
“We thank Rabbi Dubinsky for the time and effort he invests in delivering such a beautiful shiur,” said the organizers, Rabbi Shaya Itkin and Rabbi Dovid Brawer. “We also wish our bochurim much hatzlocha as they continue to grow in limmud hatorah and deepen their understanding of halacha.”
