As the Jewish world marks 75 years of the Rebbe’s leadership, the annual campaign for Shifra & Puah of Crown Heights is reaching its peak.
Centered around the profound lessons of the Rebbe’s first discourse, Basi L’Gani 5711, the campaign highlights the essence of Chabad: unconditional care for every Jew.
The Lesson: No One is Left Behind
A powerful video released for the campaign (seen below) brings to life a story the Rebbe shared during that historic Farbrengen in 5711. It tells of the Alter Rebbe, who interrupted his Yom Kippur prayers to personally ensure a woman who had just given birth had heat and food. This story serves as the foundation for Shifra & Puah’s mission—ensuring that no mother in the Rebbe’s neighborhood is left to fend for herself.
“More Than Just Help, It’s Heart”
As the campaign reaches its peak, prominent community members Esty Prus and Bracha Friedman shared their personal experiences with the organization.
“It’s not just technical assistance,” says Bracha Friedman. “It’s about the soul and quality put into every package, making sure the mother feels truly cared for.” Esty Prus echoes this sentiment, describing how the nutritious breakfasts, cleaning help, and babysitting allowed her to focus on her newborn and recovery during those critical weeks.
