JEM’s My Encounter with the Rebbe project released an unedited clip of an interview that they conducted with the late Reb Ben Zion Shenker in his home in Brooklyn in April of 2010.
Reb Ben Zion spoke about a few of his encounters with the Rebbe throughout the years. In 1974, he was approached and asked by Rabbi Yosef Wineberg to compose a niggun in honor of the Rebbe’s 72nd birthday.
The nigun to becho hashem was composed by the Bobover Rebbe the ” Kedushas Tziyo” hy”d whose name was Bentzion.
#5 is mistaken. When Ben-Zion came in to the Rebbe he came to ask for a Bracha for his father who just fell going to the Sukkah. The Rebbe told him to sing a niggun.
Yes, you are mistaken. the tune of B’Cho Hashem Chosisi is an old originally non Lubavitcher nigun, but it was put together with these words by the Rebbe’s Chazan, Reb Moishe Teleshevsky A’H

While the Rebbe had a farbrengen in the sukkah, Bentsion Shenker arrived and told the Rebbe that his father in law (who I think lived on Empire Blvd) just fell down a flight of stairs and is in serious condition. The Rebbe told him to sing a niggun in front of everyone, which he did.
Actually, his wife – aleha hashalom – was a Lustig. Rabbi Lustig’s aunt.
Did you know his sister, lihavdil lchaim tovim, is married to Rabbi Lustig.

on crown st.
he also performed in concert at the chovevei torah shul (at easrern parkway and albany) where as the famous cantor moshe kusevitsky olov hasholom did as well.
