Mr. Shawn “Velvel” Mash, a longtime active member of Chabad in North Texas, passed away on Erev Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha, 9 Cheshvan 5782.
He was 92.
Velvel was instrumental in the establishment of Chabad in North Texas, and remained involved spanning many decades.
He assisted in educational programs, specifically those geared towards teenagers. Shawn’s experience as a therapist combined with his passion for Yiddishkeit and Chassidus served as a helpful combination in his quest to help people and inspire a love for Judaism in them.
Reb Velvel touched the lives of many Lubavitchers across the country, whether they benefited personally or were referred to him, in his work as a therapist.
