They broke the rules

not exactly at all

When they went to kvutza, they had a status that enabled it.

In the meanwhile, the rules changed, and the kvutza agreement (thatenabled bachurim to postpone the draft to after kvutza) is not recognized by the shiltonot anymore.

That’s not an argument. Using “would you like it” to bully your way. Technically they broke the rules. The question is if they had notice and ability to sort it out. In other words go home before getting arrested.

Sometimes you can strike a deal to draft immediately without further punishment but that might require “protectzia”. You need a connection with someone that can vouch for you.
The problem is, its difficult to get that now since everyone is trying to get that connection.

great solution

Just serve and stop lying that you have mental illness and you wont spend a day in jail.

you are so wrong

If someone had lied to avoid the draft, they would likely have been disqualified from service and not arrested. The fact that they were arrested suggests they did not lie and were considered fit for duty.

It has to do I think with the fact that some stay long-term in Israel and, in theory, may be required to settle something in regards to their military status. Not necessarily that they have to serve, but maybe they didn’t properly fill out certain paperwork?

They recruited 3,000 yeshiva student for the army and send 2,000 home. They IDF does not have the capacity for everyone!

Look what happened when the war broke our! They didn’t have the infrastructure for all the volunteers!!

The Government is just acting in their usual anti-frumness. Unfortunately, the issue are the animals who just rile up the issue with these protests!

The real reason this is happening is because the high court ruled that everyone needs to be treated equally, despite the government trying to exempt frum people. The government doesn’t have a choice.

Also 1000 weren’t sent home, which is a significant amount. And the ones where were sent home may have been recalled after training the earlier groups was completed.

Secular blood is no less redder than Orthodox. You live in the Israel = contribute to the state.

The army has created many roles that will not infringe on religious observance. This has been shown and proven by the many Chabad/Orthodox men and women who honorably serve and pay their dues.

I have friends in the army that were promised xyz as frum people, but the “things” changed, and they were assigned to mixed units, with Rabanut barely kosher (if kosher food), had to fight for mehadrin food, and wait a month until it finally got approved, fact is that the IDF was established on anti religion, and it’s entire foundation is anti religion, read it up for yourself.
This has got nothing to do with religion, purely just hate for frum people.

October 29, 2025 2:05 pm

Wanted men (not women) to serve only after marriage and Kollel in a Kosher unit. These bochurim are Chayalim who help Israel so much with their Torah learning.

This is atrocious! It’s the secular Israelis targeting the Chareidim in order to modernize them, that’s all. They don’t need more soldiers.

I’m sorry to disappoint you, but the idea of secular zionism is to create a melting pot and create a new Judaism that has nothing to do with G-d, Torah or mitzvot. This is not new information. The service in the army facilitates this in the best way. If they would truly accommodate the Charedim 100% it would be different, but their promises are just tricks and lies

No need for more soldiers
October 29, 2025 2:14 pm

I think that BH Israel has enough soldiers in the army and especially now where the war is basically over there’s no reason to go after Yeshiva Bochurim…

the problem
October 29, 2025 2:16 pm

The problem is the heads of “habad” (you know, that great humanitarian organization) the ones that are there for you in flood and in fire…. have given this perception that we are different to mainstream Torah Jews, “we love The state” we love the army… we’re just all love baby love…..totally gone South on the rebbes views……
Taken a liberal stance to attract support, like Aish…..

Worse than this…

Not to attract support, but because they themselves believe this.

The IDF must be so confused when the kids of these people from the US serve as volunteers and Israeli bochurim don’t…

Busha to our community
October 29, 2025 3:06 pm

Stop using the “religious card.”
Most Israelis are religious and still serve in the army.
So why should some Chabad or others be different?
During Sukkot, we heard how they try to avoid service—using any excuse, even mental health.
Meanwhile, local Chabad kids did serve, including girls.
Those who dodged it are now facing the consequences—no excuses, busha to them and their parents.

Not hardly. Even the Dati leumi who you probably are including observe in a way which hardly resembles authentic orthodoxy. They equally value the secular and the holy by dint of the Torah u’Mada ideology. In deference to Rabbi Soloveitchik, this philosophy has been perverted and adapted unto misguided interpretation resulting in a revolving door between the derech and freiheit. So if they do not count, certainly the chilonim are not religious nor those in between. No remnant majority can be compiled of the excluded.

One thing almost everyone and perhaps everyone, who has commented has missed. This is basically a deliberate effort by the judicial system led by Israel’s AG, to cause social tension for the purpose of toppling the government. Yes, the draft should be extended. Religious people should be serving if they are not studying, and frankly, I personally do not think that studying should be an exemption. The main question should be what benefits our people the most, and I think that extending service, is of great benefit. But this behavior is just a provocation, and a deliberate one. Let’s not let… Read more »

You are on target! This is all the work of the corrupt Israeli AG. She picks and Jews who to prosecute. Using the law to discriminate against certain sects of people is immoral and the opposite of a functioning democracy. Th AG is trying real hard to stir up infighting amongst the parties that make of the government in order to hasten its demise. This has nothing at all to do with fairness or the recruitment needs of the IDF. people need to educate themselves about Israeli nasty politics before spouting their opinion on this matter against those bachurim.

the old pictures of bochurim in Israel showed them in their uniforms black pants white shirts (short sleeves) hats and tefilin and latkes and menorahs. and even digging trenches in times of war.

that was the rebbes view and Torahs view.

An army with women in is against Torah. They don’t keep their promises to the Charedi units. Either because they truly don’t understand what it means to live a life according to the Shluchan Aruch, or (more likely) because they are trying to purposely corrupt them so that they will no longer be frum. They can’t comprehend that Charedim would rather die than serve in a mixed, secular army
