The Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel Yitzhak Yosef paid a special visit to the Rebbe‘s Ohel in the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, NY, on Tuesday.
Rabbi Yosef, who succeeded his renowned father Rabbi Ovadia Yosef OBM, recited Tehillim at the Ohel and davened for the Jewish community and Israel.
He was accompanied by his in-law Rabbi Yehuda Deri, Chief Rabbi of Beer Sheva, Knesset member Yoav Tzur, and rabbis of the Bukharian Jewish community in Queens.
Upon leaving the Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center, Rabbi Yosef met a group of Talmidim Shluchim, Chabad Yeshiva graduates who will be spending the upcoming year assisting younger bochurim.
“You have great merit,” Rabbi Yosef told them. “If there wasn’t Chabad, there would be no Judaism, no Torah, nothing. Continue to work and operate as messengers and in the merit of the Rebbe.”
