A joyous event was held in the Queens neighborhood of Hollis Hills in New York last Sunday, with the inauguration of a new Shul and the welcoming of a new Sefer Torah.
The Ohr Avner Sephardic Center of Hollis Hills at 80-02 209th Street was built with the support of the President of the World Bukharian Jewish Congress, Lev Leviev and his wife, Olga.
To celebrate the occasion, a new Torah was donated by their daughter Chagit Leviev-Sofiev, CEO of the Leviev Group USA, and her husband Gavriel Sofiev.
It was welcomed with a procession led by the rabbis of the Bukharian Jewish community with music and dancing from the Sofiev home to the new shul.
A Seudas Mitzvah and dedication of the new Sephardic Center Shul followed the dancing.
