Lamplighters Yeshivah in Crown Heights is not only starting a new phase of development but also beginning renovations on a new home.
First, Moshe and Rivkah Schack, trained Montessorians and co-directors of Torah Montessori School in Chicago, IL, joined as the educational leadership of the school.
And Thursday, the administration has signed a lease on 823 Eastern Parkway to be used as its centrally located school building.
Construction will soon begin to turn the building, once used by the Darchei Menachem school, into beautifully-renovated premises with a freshly painted facade, sun-lit classrooms, new bathrooms, and a safe and large outdoor play and learning area with space for a garden.
Lamplighters will operate two preschool classes next year for boys and girls and a boys 1-2 grade class.
The new space will be ready just in time to host the first-annual CAPD (Chinuch Al Pi Darko) summer teacher training program which is a comprehensive course on using Montessori methodology to deliver Torah education in a truly individualized way to students.
All of qualified Morahs and Rebbes at Lamplighters will be trained in CAPD and Behavioral Analysis and are exemplary Chasidishe role models.
The course allows preschool mechanchos to learn everything a Montessori teacher would learn in AMS (American Montessori Society) training, minus the focus on the philosophy, and with an emphasis on curricula that have been completely re-examined through a Torah lens (to join, call 718-755-4185 or visit CAPDtraining.org.
Lamplighters will be holding its third informational Open House this Sunday evening, June 3, at 7:30pm at their current location 644 Eastern Parkway (between Brooklyn and New York, ground floor).
Parents will be able to meet and speak to the Schacks and learn about their innovative, proven curriculum and the exciting developments for the 5773 school year. There will also be summer walk-throughs for prospective parents to tour the classrooms and join parent education events.
Why don’t you just say who that vaad is? Rabbinic Vaad should be feather in your cap and not kept only for those who ask.
Yes, this school does have a Vaad Ruchni. If you’d like, email them for more information
This year’s Morahs are not coming back. They are having all new teachers.
Does this school have a vaad of mashpiim and rabbinic guiding it?
this building is an amazing stepping stone. First Bais Shmuel, then see how they’ve grown. Then Darchai, then they moved into a beautiful large facility. Now Lamplighters…may this be the beginning of amazing things for you!!
