A Lubavitcher Chossid was the subject of a recent “Mi Hu Ze” (who is that) section in Der Blatt, a weekly Yiddish newspaper published in New York by Satmar Chassidim.
Similar to COLlive’s Mystery Men, they published a photo this past month of a wedding ceremony and asked readers to guess the people photographed.
The wedding, it turns out, was of Rabbi Nachman Yosef and Esther Twersky who are today respected residents of Brooklyn’s Crown Heights.
The chosson, they wrote, was the son of Rachmastrivka-Yerushalayim Rebbe, Rabbi Yisroel Mordechai Twersky OBM and older brother of current Rebbe, Rabbi Duvid Twersky.
The kallah was the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Ashkenazi OBM, Rabbi of the Chabad community in Tel Aviv and sister of Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi, Rabbi of the Kfar Chabad village in Israel.
Special mention was made of her grandfather Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi OBM, a known gaon and rabbi in Shanghai, China, whose Chassidic family goes back to the Tzemach Tzedek.
They wrote that Rabbi Nachman Yosef Twersky became close to the Chabad Chassidus and the Rebbe and in 5739 “became the rav of Chabad in Detroit.”
He is now a Maggid Shiur in Mesivta Oholei Torah in Crown Heights.
unique!
Rabbi twersky is what you call a real mechanech!! Connects to his talmidim in a special way that remains long after the year is over.!
call other rebe’s “rebbeleh-it’s condescending and racmistrivka is a sizeble chassidus anyways.
the yiddish article states that he is the younger brother of the current rebbe.

Rabbi Nacum Twersky was in line to be the next Rebbele. He is an asset to Lubavitch. We are soooo lucky to have him in our midst.
