The 8th grade of United Lubavitcher Yeshiva have recorded the classic heartfelt song, “A Russian Boy’s Hopeless Plight.”
A song about a boy trapped in Communist Russia, who, when given the opportunity to send a letter to the Rebbe, instead of asking for rescue from his harsh life, asks for his Davening to come more naturally.

Lyrics:
A Russian boy’s hopeless plight
Dreariness fills his night
Hardship and pain befall him
His chance of survival is slim
Finding no source of true comfort
To the Rebbe he turns with a letter
Compelled to express to him
How life could have been so much better
Chorus:
The boy did not beg for an easier life
Nor for a hope to be free
Vos zol ich ton az s’davent zich nisht
That was the Russian boy’s plea
As the Rebbe spoke at Farbrengen
The Chassidim gazed on in surprise
As the Rebbe choked with emotion
And tears came to his eyes.
Chorus…

yes its a true story
Anyone with real facts can verify this?
Is it Itche Mishulovin or Michoel Mishulovin from Nachlas Har Chabad?
This has a beautiful message and would love to know who its about when sharing this story!!
Thanks!
Devorah leah rosenfeld and chany baron amazing!!! This song is one of the classics. No one even knew you guys wrote this!! Amazing!!! kol hakavod!!!!
This song made me cry
I do not know if correct – but could it be that one of the boys singing is the great grandson of Rabbi J.J. Hecht A”H?
His expression and voice remind me so much of Rabbi Hecht’s children and grandchildren in the 1960’s – 70’s in Camp Emunah….
Aside from the effect this video will surely have on people watching it, what stands out most to me is getting those boys involved in these type of inyonim. It’s a challenge these days for that age range especially to have a chayus and geshmak in Yiddishkeit and chassidus. Getting them excited by involving them in the production of a video with all the technology, etc. surely helps with this challenge. Moishy Goldstein’s recognition of this lfi anias dati makes him an incredible mechanich. Looking forward to more great things in the future from him and his talmidim!
So well done!! Brought me to tears, b/c of the original story and how beautifully sung by these young yeshiva boys!!! Much nachas from them
Such nice singing
I also heard its rabbi Itche Mishulovin!! Hes a really special Yid, I love to visit his store on Kingston every time- and after reading Samarkand- totally envision it!
It’s really special and he now lives right there in Crown Heights!
I heard its about Itche Mishulovin from Merkaz Stam in Ch. Is that true?? Can anyone verify this?
chassisher beautiful music-something lacking these days and so happy to have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moishy Goldstein has so much talent
love dovber Cohen’s voice!
Chani Rosenblum Baron and I wrote the words to this song for colorwar at Camp Gan Yisroel in Kalkaska Michigan around 1978, when we were mere infants. We got stuck on the last lines of the chorus, and had the brainstorm to put in the original Yiddish, figuring the judges would love it. They did! We won. And by the way, it’s “hopeless.” Dina (Devorah Leah) Rosenfeld
amazing job!!!

If you read the article you’ll see their info there
And I quote:

Their website says they have a female engineer for recording girls.
Thanks for thinking of us finally – it’s about time
The studio is located in Crown Heights
(according to their website musicstudio.nyc )
Fantastic job boys!
Please keep them coming!
You guys should definitely make a full album!
The original tune is “Avinu Av Harachaman” – beautiful song
Is this a new studio in Crown Heights?
Any info?
Great job boys!
I was always waiting that someone should finally record this beautiful song, and I believe you guys are the first to ever record it – and you guys did a great job!
I just finished reading the book Samarkand, and almost feel like I can visualize this song. Job very well done!
yes it was a trying period the Rebbe was mvarer that period but we live in different times with different trial and tribulations perhaps its time for the melchonic gan yisroel style themes to focus on now
Rabbi Michoel Mishulovin, the Mashpia of Nachalas Har Chabad, a dugma Chaya of a chossid.
Actually it’s supposed to be “hopeless”
See for example The Official Jewish Songbook

Gorgeous!
That doesn’t answer my question. So now my question is why is the plight “helpless”? (same thing)
Where is this studio?
Very nice! However, would NIT be more correct than nisht? As in “Es Daven’t zich nit”.
Its is indeed supposed to be “helpless”
Which year did the Rebbe mentioned this? Help us hear/read the original….
why is the plight “hopeless”?
Great to see such chasidisher bochurim
You are the best
So special!!!! Ty m Goldstein. Great job boys. Great job uly
But what is with all the auto tune? Would be much nicer without all the added noise. Keep nigunim simple.
Go Dovber Coen!!!!! You also sing very beautifully in the new Chayolei Hamelech CD! Keep it up!!
Moishy is the best of professionalism and putting out beautiful content! keep it up!!
