There is one block in Crown Heights that has felt neglected by law enforcement for quite some time now. This block has been a hotbed for gun violence, round the clock loud music, illicit business dealings, and much more. It came to a point where it was no longer practical to lead a productive life or even run a normal daily schedule on this block. Some have chosen to leave, and in doing so the problem was only beginning to exacerbate.
This issue was brought to the attention of the 71st precinct, who responded in a manner that has brought about the most pleasing outcome imaginable. In the span of only a few short days, the block has become unrecognizable for the better.
The 71st precinct has shown a serious presence in response to a serious problem, and in doing so they have improved the lives of countless residents in ways that only the residents of our block can truly appreciate. The block seemed beyond hope, but in a matter of just a few short days, that has changed drastically. We want to acknowledge the 71st precinct for their diligence and commitment to making this community a better and safer place, one block at a time.
On behalf of all the residents on the block, both Jewish and non-Jewish alike, we want to thank you, 71st precinct, for stepping in and making a tremendous difference. There are literally hundreds of people in this community right now who are proud of your work, restoring their sense of safety and bringing back order and peace into our lives.
We want to commend you for your good work, but also, even more importantly, we want to encourage you to continue being present, in one form or another, so that the residents on this block can continue this blissful enjoyment of life which your presence has afforded us.
Thank You!
Resident of Crown Heights
All blocks of crown height have not seen a foot patrol for years , the community misses their presence
We are a community ! Not an autopilot community .
71st Pct has to learn from others mistakes because they don’t live long enough to do them themselves !
Please bring back the foot patrol
Or it seems we will lose our security and safety as other communities have.
what block is this referring to?
When was the last time you offered an officer standing on a freezing cold night a cup of coffee? A cold water bottle during the day? Or even a simple “thank you for your service” with a smile like you mean it?
We don’t see any for a while and when we did we always were nice to them, offering coffee ☕️ ….. but when last time you see any policeman And policewomen walking around here? .. my kids know all our firemen cars by the numbers and happy faces of firemen …and our shomrim /shmira ….. do we see any police coming to interact with kids about safety like firemen?
It’s better they should not foot patrol
The only thing they do when they foot patrol it’s giving tickets right and left and some of them are very biased.
I would rather the policeman be on foot patrol and protect people from dangerous attack’s, than worry about get a ticket you PROBABLY deserve..!
For what, giving tickets, not caring if we get attacked in the street by day or night, that we are afraid of walking by ourselves. Yeah, big thank you for nothing and only giving tickets to the Jewish community.
The problem will come back
I have to say it like it is, I have seen police cars with at least two policeman in front of my shul on a constant basis and we live on the outskirts of the Jewish community. They were there on Tsh a b’av and many Yomim Tovim. This is confusing, some say they don’t see them and others say they don’t want to see them. This really gives mixed messages but what does count is our community leaders interface with our precinct and other NYPD officials and try to do what is best for the community and make sure… Read more »
