Response to “the system is broken and you should present a solution instead of saying we’re in la la land”… the solution has already begun with new schools, seminaries, etc. opening up. Rumors fly about newer schools (from those employed in the old system) but the results will speak for themselves.
Although I consider myself an old lady (59) I can say with certainty that your advice could have applied many generations ago too. I am so impressed with your gentle but firm approach. I wish someone would have given me the time of day. Although I stayed with the program I know that if only one person took an interest in me my life would have been much better. PLEASE – all the people in Chinuch – LISTEN. You want the children to listen? you listen to them. THANK YOU
Not true! i know of a school where the principle took it seriously and is talking to every girl, 5 girls at the time about this!
That is a caring principle!
I’m a bochur, a huge fan of Rabbi Jacobson, that says things clearly and addresses a variety of issues from the Chassidus point of view. Maybe they should bring him down to speak in yeshivas, unfortunately a lot of the mashpiim today don’t relate to the day to day struggles that bochurim have…
A while passed since that caring teenager wrote the article and not one school took her seriously…
Instead of doing something heads of the schools are just looking for their paycheck and summer vacation
So sad
