With just a week left before Chof Av, workers are busy preparing the gravesite of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson OBM, the known gaon and mekubal who was the father of the Rebbe.
Buried in the old Jewish cemetery in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the tziyun will be visited by hundreds of people from around the world on Wednesday.
Chabad Shluchim in Kazakhstan are coordinating the efforts and will be providing hospitality, meals and other accommodations to the visitors.
At the tziyun itself, workers installed new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Bricks ruined by the winter weather have been reset, as well as the roof and door.
The fence around the cemetery has been raised and additional renovation was done at the section servicing the kohanim who which to visit.
The total cost of these renovations is estimated at $31,000.
