Wednesday, the tenth of Adar, marked the tenth Yahrzeit of Shlomo Shalom Brashevitzky, OBM, who was killed in a car accident while serving as a counselor in the Yeshiva Tzeirei Hashluchim in Tzfas, Israel.
The mark the day, the school’s students and faculty visited his gravesite in Tzfas.
After saying the customary Tehillim, Shliach Rabbi Kaplan recited Kadish, and said that Shalom’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of the school’s faculty and students.
“The Rebbe teaches us the concept of ‘Vehachai Yiten el Libo,’ – the living should take to heart,” explained Rabbi Azraf, the school’s principal, “and we have much to learn from Shalom’s behavior.”
“Shalom Brashevitsky was an example for all the Yeshiva’s students,” remarked the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Shalom Dovber Hertzel.
“A large number of students, who are now all over the world, mark this day each year. Shalom was a counselor who cared for each of the students’ well-being as though they were his own son. He was also an example of a true Chassid.”
Every year, on his Yahrzeit, the students of the Tzeirei Hashluchim yeshiva mark his Yahrtzeit by visiting his grave and with a farbrengen.
I loved the man..and still miss him. It is still a terrible tragedy. I remember him…he was such an alive person and an amazing friend…then seeing him lying there in hospital..I miss you Shalom.
Thank you for sharing sholom we will always remember you as the most kind and loving person. & what a mixed purim it was that year. may we be zoiche to the geulah shleima and see sholom once again with his smile that warmed the heart.
“friend from Denver!”
As Sholom’s brother I must take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Rabbi Kaplan& The entire Hanhola who take the time and expense to visit Sholom’s Kever. Each year without fail they have been there for Sholom’s memory. asa family member it’s difficult around the time of the yahrtzeiten, especially as it’s difficult to make the trip as a Shliach and father of small children. The warmth we receive through this generous caring of Rabbi Kaplan is truely remarkable.
May we all be Zoiche B’korov Mamosh to Vhakitzu Viran’nu Shochnei Affar…
